The studio
An axiom is only worth publishing if breaking it would be profitable.
AXIOM INTERACTIVE PTY LTD is a puzzle studio in New South Wales. This page explains why the rules on the home page are written as axioms with costs attached rather than as values with adjectives attached.
Method
Values are free. Axioms are not.
Every studio says it respects players. The statement costs nothing, commits to nothing, and survives any subsequent design decision, because there is always a reading of "respect" that permits the thing you were going to do anyway.
An axiom is different in one specific way: it forbids something concrete and names what the prohibition costs. Axiom 4 says undo is unlimited and free, and then says out loud that this removes the most common monetisation hook in the genre. That second sentence is what makes the first one a commitment rather than a slogan.
It also gives you a way to catch us. Six numbered statements with dated changes is a document you can diff. A page of values is not.
Where the axioms came from
They are not derived from research and we are not claiming they are optimal. They are the six decisions we found ourselves relitigating, written down so they stop being decisions. Anyone is free to think some of them are wrong, and axiom 1 in particular rules out a genre a lot of people enjoy.
What would make us change one
Evidence that an axiom makes a puzzle worse for the people playing it, rather than merely harder to monetise. If a change happens, the page will say which axiom changed, on what date, and what it used to say.
Build
How an axiom becomes a check.
Four of the six can be checked by a machine instead of remembered by a person, and that is the only reason anyone should believe them.
| Axiom | Enforced by | Failure mode it catches |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Solvable without luck | Solver runs on every generated board before it can be served | A board that cannot be cleared from the visible state |
| 2. No uninformed branch | Solver records whether any step required a guess | A board that is technically solvable but only by trying |
| 3. Depth not clock | Build test plays through with every timer disabled | Content silently gated behind the timed mode |
| 4. Free unlimited undo | Static check that no undo path touches billing or advertising code | An undo that shows an advertisement |
| 5. No unrequested hint | Static check that no idle timer exists in the client | Idle detection creeping in as a retention feature |
| 6. Finished stays finished | Schema check that no progression field is time-derived | A streak or decay column appearing in a later migration |
Every check listed here runs against builds we produced ourselves. None of it is sold to anybody, none of it certifies anything, and a build getting through one says nothing whatever about a product made by someone else.

Confirming it without asking us
Every row above can be checked by someone who does not trust a word on this page. The business register at abr.business.gov.au answers on the number, the date it became active and the tax position, and it charges nothing to do so. ASIC, the national corporate regulator, holds the company number and the form the company takes. Where a value here disagrees with a value there, the register is the one that is right.
Where a document has to go
The registered office recorded for ACN 700 712 465 sits with ASIC, and that is the address at which service takes effect. Printing some other address on this page would produce a destination that looks official and accomplishes nothing, so this page prints none.
Argue with it
Six numbered statements are a thing you can attack.
That is the point of numbering them. Tell us which axiom does not survive contact with a real player and what you would put in its place, and the reply comes from the people who wrote the six. Answers arrive inside five business days; anything the Privacy Act governs runs to thirty.
